J-Commerce Looks for a Piece of the Action

Can a gossip site generate e-commerce revenue? That’s a question posed by the news that Gawker is going to wade into the world of e-commerce.

According to a post on Ad Age, Gawker founder Nick Denton hopes to generate 10 percent of the company’s 2013 revenue by “merging writing and product curation.” Alongside juicy celebrity tidbits, Gawker will introduce readers to new products and steer them towards online “deals.”
