The e-commerce sites of CompUSA and Circuit City e-commerce sites will disappear at the end of this year. Both companies were among the largest computer and consumer electronics chains before declaring bankruptcy several years ago.
The brands were bought by Systemax, which recently announced it will consolidate both e-commerce sites under its TigerDirect brand. TigerDirect.com specializes in computers and consumer electronics.
“We harvested significant value from the CompUSA and Circuit City acquisitions and are now moving forward with a single and unified consumer platform in the United States,” Systemax CEO Richard Leeds was quoted as saying in Internet Retailer.
Systemax has had its own struggles in recent months. Internet Retailer notes that the company reported a net income drop of 52.8 percent in its most recent quarter compared to the previous year.
