Don’t Take It Literally
Nicholas Strozza from Interpro Translation Solutions has seen the problems that can arise from faulty translations. “Pink, It’s the New Black” might convey the trendiness of a product to an online shopper in North America. But a literal translation would confuse Spanish or French speakers. In order to avoid mistranslations and reign in costs, companies looking to launch products in non-English markets should:
- Localize the text
- Use professional, in-country translators
- Use translation memory
