{"id":12128,"date":"2012-04-25T13:15:26","date_gmt":"2012-04-25T20:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/content26.com\/?p=12128"},"modified":"2017-02-14T11:19:53","modified_gmt":"2017-02-14T19:19:53","slug":"worldwide-online-spending-is-increasingly-mobile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/987654321.space\/c26_dev\/blog\/worldwide-online-spending-is-increasingly-mobile\/","title":{"rendered":"Worldwide, Online Spending Is Increasingly Mobile"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This just in from <strong>Econsultancy<\/strong>: The Brits\u00a0<a title=\"UK consumers spend 25% of disposable income online\" href=\"http:\/\/econsultancy.com\/us\/blog\/9692-uk-consumers-spend-25-of-disposable-income-online?utm_medium=feeds&amp;utm_source=blog\" target=\"_blank\">spend more of their disposable income online<\/a> than any other European nation surveyed in\u00a0<strong>WorldPay<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0Global Online Shopper Report (and slightly more than US consumers). That little fact by itself is of no great consequence.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s more interesting is the direct correlation between online spending and smartphone purchasing. Chinese and Indian consumers spend the highest percentage of disposable income online\u00a0<em>and<\/em>\u00a0use smartphones more often for those online purchases. The report found well over half of &#8220;heavy spenders&#8221;&#8211;shoppers who spend more than 30 percent of their disposable income online&#8211;worldwide have purchased online via a mobile device in the past three months.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re terribly interested in such details as what percentage of people shop while they&#8217;re in the bathroom or on overseas retail sites, read the full report. I&#8217;m more interested in how predictive that data is of the future of online content. As Worldpay&#8217;s chief product officer,\u00a0Philip McGriskin, said: &#8220;This increased mobility is expanding the audience of potential consumers for merchants to target but, in tandem, presents challenges in offering the best experience for these consumers whenever and wherever they demand it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In other words, strong multichannel content is the name of the game. And hey, if your weak spot is video, <a title=\"Brandcast: Google\u2019s bid to help brands target YouTube audiences\" href=\"http:\/\/memeburn.com\/2012\/04\/brandcast-googles-bid-to-help-brands-target-youtube-audiences\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Google<\/strong> just launched a help site called Brandcast<\/a>\u00a0for brands trying to reach their audiences on <strong>YouTube<\/strong>.
