Will Twitter<\/strong> save social commerce?<\/p>\n

BuyReply<\/strong>, a tweet-to-buy system, launched this week. The startup enables Twitter users to buy products seen in advertisements.<\/p>\n

How does it work? Registered BuyReply users are prompted to tweet or email a short code they see displayed on a product they want to buy. A virtual wallet completes the transaction. If the user needs more information, BuyReply sends a link to a mobile site. Ralph Lauren<\/strong> and Guess<\/strong> have reportedly already signed up in hopes that the system will send their products viral.<\/p>\n

“No one has monetised Twitter yet,” BuyReply founder Brad Lindenberg was quoted saying in Marketing<\/strong> magazine. “But we think we have. We use open technology that everyone has, no apps and you can buy in three seconds over the television.”<\/p>\n
