Square<\/strong>, best known for its mobile payment platform, just launched Square Market. Conceptually similar to eBay<\/strong> and Amazon<\/strong> and visually similar to Etsy<\/strong>, the online marketplace is integrated with other Square products and is designed to let merchants easily promote items for sale on social networks.<\/p>\n

As Square’s CEO said in a recent interview<\/a>, “Our mission is to make commerce easy.\u00a0That doesn\u2019t mean \u2018make offline commerce easy\u2019 or \u2018make online commerce easy.\u2019 It\u2019s commerce in general.\u201d<\/p>\n

And that includes social commerce. Using Twitter<\/strong> product cards, retailers can promote their products in tweets that link to Square Market. This may be the starting point for Twitter’s own expansion into commerce<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
