There are countless audiences that can be created using this information\u2014from shoppers who prefer natural products to those who own a luxury car.<\/p>\n<p>The goal in segmenting the data? Find the most relevant consumers for your message.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How Does Amazon Audience Builder Work? <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Audience Builder tool allows brands to create consumer groups they can target with ad campaigns on and . These target audiences are compiled by Amazon based on chosen inputs from advertisers. Inputs can include search keywords, detail page views (these can be either a brand\u2019s products or a competitor\u2019s products), purchase information, or even an individual brand\u2019s own customer lists (such as CRM data).<\/p>\n<p>Once you have developed your audiences, they can be used as targets for your Amazon advertising campaigns. Multiple audiences can be employed for a single campaign, and Amazon will only create audiences with consumers they classify as \u201cactive.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Build Audiences for the Whole Funnel<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Since a wide variety of audiences are available, there are many ways they can be used. Here are a few:<\/p>\n<p><em>Build Awareness.<\/em> Capture customers who are starting the product journey by creating audiences around keywords related to your brand. For this goal, you will want to look at KPIs including impressions, detail page views, and clicks to best measure success.<\/p>\n<p><em>Target Competitors.<\/em> Attract attention to your own brand and divert traffic from competitors by creating audiences made up of shoppers interested in your general category, or those who have viewed detail pages of products similar to yours. For this, you are able to enter in specific competitor ASINs to create the audience segment.<\/p>\n<p><em>Retargeting. <\/em>Circle back to the customers who have viewed your product\u2019s detail page, but not made a purchase, or who have purchased complementary products (both under your brand, as well as other similar brands and products).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>How to Use Amazon DSP Audience Builder <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Following are the steps to build and target audiences<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click on \u201cAudiences\u201d in the side navigation of your Amazon DSP account.<\/li>\n<li>Click the \u201cNew audience\u201d button to create a new audience.<\/li>\n<li>Select one of the radio buttons: Click the \u201c<strong>Products<\/strong>\u201d button to create your audience based on their shopping interactions with certain ASINs. Or select \u201c<strong>Hashed audience<\/strong>\u201d to utilize an existing audience and activate that audience in an Amazon Advertising campaign. Or select \u201c<strong>Pixel traffic<\/strong>\u201d for creating an audience based on pixel traffic.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cNext\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>If the \u201cProducts\u201d radio button is selected, next steps are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select the ASINs that you want use to create your audience; you can add up to 1,000 ASINs.<\/li>\n<li>Select which Amazon marketplace the products are sold on.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cAdd.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Check the box next to the shopping interactions you would like to use to build your audience. Each checked box will create one audience.<br \/>\n\u2022 Product views<br \/>\n\u2022 Product purchased<br \/>\n\u2022 Similar product views, or<br \/>\n\u2022 Product searches<br \/>\n\u2022 You will also want to select your \u201clookback window\u201d (30, 60, or 90 days).<\/li>\n<li>Name your audiences.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cCreate.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It can take up to 24 hours for your audiences to become available to use in DSP. After 24 hours, you can check the status. The audiences with the active status can be applied to the Amazon Advertising campaigns in DSP.<\/p>\n<p>With Audience Builder, the brands can also negatively target specific brands and ASINs that the ad will not be matched to.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When \u201cHashed audience\u201d is selected, next steps are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select your file\u2019s data type.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare your CSV or TXT file (both comma delimited) by including as many data attributes as you can to get the highest match rate. Amazon can accept any combination of the following data attributes: Email, phone, address, city, state\/province, zip\/postal code, first name, and last name. Amazon can also accept mobile advertising IDs if submitted in a file of their own.<\/li>\n<li>Enter a name and description for your audience. The name will appear in the Audiences field for line items.<\/li>\n<li>Optional: Uncheck\/check the box based on your preference to create <a href=\"https:\/\/content26.com\/blog\/use-your-customer-data-with-amazon-advertiser-audiences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lookalike audiences<\/a> based on this hashed audience.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>In the case of choosing \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/content26.com\/blog\/use-your-customer-data-with-amazon-advertiser-audiences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pixel traffic<\/a>,\u201d next steps are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select \u201cPixel traffic.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Enter a name and description for your audience. The name will appear in the Audiences field for line items.<\/li>\n<li>Using Query builder, click \u201cedit\u201d under Include or Exclude, select the pixels you want to include or exclude in the audience, and click \u201cOK.\u201d You can change this after your orders and line items are live.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the number of times during a specified number of days a user must visit the selected pixel before they are included in or excluded from the audience. You can change this after a campaign is live. It takes 15 days for pixel frequency to be updated in all reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cCreate.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>What Do I Need to Get Started?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em>A bit of Amazon Advertising practice. <\/em>If you have not used <a href=\"https:\/\/content26.com\/blog\/the-definitive-guide-to-amazon-advertising\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amazon Advertising <\/a>previously, get your feet wet there first. Once you understand the basics and have a solid strategy in place, you can put the Audience Builder tool to work for your campaigns.<\/p>\n<p><em>A strategy.<\/em> Can you answer this question: How does this particular audience help me reach my campaign goals?
