Big Bang history by Brand New Galaxy
In 2017 a group of experienced managers and long-term friends in business decided to create a highly specialised network of mar-tech solutions, with a vision to grow a powerful, independent challenger business that would make waves in agency land. The co-founders of Brand New Galaxy put commerce at the heart of the business – targeting “geek” levels of knowledge and capability – combined with the determination to take their ambition out globally; not just working with clients across Europe, but becoming embedded within client’s global structures and agency rosters.
At its inception, Brand New Galaxy’s unique superpower was, and remains, world-leading know-how in E-commerce & Digital transformation designed to meet the needs of global clients. The agency combines expert, specialist positioning with a hunger and restlessness that sees it constantly iterating new methodologies, solutions and approaches at pace, tested in real market conditions.
The agency’s commitment to being best in class attracted leading clients and solid investment that saw it grow rapidly. Nomad Fund was the first institution to invest in BNG, seeing the potential of its model even while it was still being built.
From just a dozen people in 2017, BNG had grown to more than 200 people by the end of 2018, with an impressive list of global accounts. It moved from a co-working office rental to a brand new location in Koneser Center in Warsaw. It rose from “Debut of the year 2018” to “Success of the year 2019” in Press Magazine’s prestigious agencies’ ranking.
Leading talent saw Brand New Galaxy as a great place to build their careers, keen to benefit from the agency’s unique knowledge/capabilities and prestigious global client base. By 2019 it had become a truly global business – its team members spoke 27 languages and international travel was a feature of agency life.
At the end of 2019 a key financial transaction took place. Piotr Morkowski bought out Nomad Fund and became a leading investor and Chairman of BNG’s Supervisory Board.
From day one, BNG has grown thanks to amazing people with unique skillsets and an extraordinary desire to drive change. This entrepreneurial spirit led to the decision in 2020 to make the agency’s first acquisition, a well-known American agency. content26, making BNG the first Polish born agency to acquire a key US player.
The pandemic did nothing to slow down growth and BNG continued to expland, closing 2020 with a presence in Dubai, Amsterdam and Seattle, a headcount of 500 and another “Success of the Year 2020” from Poland’s leading ad industry magazine, Press Magazine.
In 2021 Brand New Galaxy was recognised by Stagwell Group who made it part of its global affiliate programme. Months of fruitful cooperation and great chemistry have led to today’s deal announcement and the start of a new era for BNG, whose unique offer will be complemented by SMN’s media expertise, and the potential for further global growth and opportunity to scale its range of business operations.
